Business Challenges
The client needed to reach web users fast, building on the mobile app they already had instead of starting over.
A web app with minimal effort:
The priority was a ready-to-use web application delivered with as little development time and cost as possible.
Reuse of the existing mobile app:
Rather than building separate apps, the client wanted the existing mobile-first product to run across mobile, tablet, and web from a single codebase.
Room to keep evolving:
Beyond the initial web release, the product needed to support ongoing new features and refinements.
Solution
DevCom proposed migrating the app to Expo (so a single codebase could serve both mobile and web) and delivered the web app on that foundation.
We migrated the app to Expo, letting the existing mobile-first product extend to the web from one codebase. This cut the time and effort a separate web build would have required and got a working web app into the client’s hands quickly.
Building on the migration, we delivered a ready-to-use web version of the app, giving the client’s users a browser experience alongside mobile.
With the web app live, work continues on new features and UI fixes, so the product keeps improving rather than standing still after launch.
Value Delivered
Faster, lower-effort web launch
- Migrating to Expo delivered a web app with minimal development effort, avoiding a costly separate build.
One codebase, two platforms
- A shared Expo codebase supports both mobile and web, keeping future development lean.
A foundation to build on
- The product continues to gain new features and refinements on the same foundation.
Technologies used
A single codebase for iOS and Android means faster setup and simpler releases to keep the budget focused on features instead of infrastructure. Expo handles builds in the cloud, so there’s no heavy local setup to maintain. That also means the client’s own team can roll out small updates on their own without waiting on a mobile specialist.
