Business Challenges
The client needed a clinically credible, service-specific support tool that could scale across organizations while protecting some of the most sensitive personal data there is.
UK rules require emergency-service employers to provide structured post-traumatic support, so the app had to deliver certified, dependable care, not general wellbeing advice.
Firefighters, surgeons, and railway workers face different pressures, so the experience had to adapt to each individual and their service rather than take a one-size-fits-all approach.
Under UK regulatory requirements, clinical content had to be authored and certified by qualified psychiatrists and psychologists without AI-generated material.
Mental-health personal data must be stored within the jurisdiction, which shaped both the architecture and the hosting approach.
Solution
DevCom delivered a cross-platform mobile app, backed by a content management system that lets the client’s clinical experts own and update every piece of material.
Persona-Based Personalization
A 10-question assessment classifies each user into one of six persona types. The app then builds a tailored experience around that persona, so the support each person receives fits their profile.
Dynamic, Certified Support Modules
Support modules are generated automatically based on the user’s persona, with completion progress tracked throughout. All clinical content is human-authored and certified by university psychiatrists and psychologists, in line with UK regulatory requirements.
Everyday Wellbeing Tools
Alongside the modules, the app provides a daily wellbeing tracker, a personal library, a journal, and quick access to useful links like crisis and helpline contacts, plus personal settings for color, font, and other preferences.
Clinician-Controlled Content via CMS
Modules, buttons, notifications, and messages are all managed through a Strapi CMS, which also holds the app’s user lists. This puts content control in the client’s hands, so certified material can be updated without a release cycle.
Architecture Built for Data Residency
The app runs on a scalable AWS backend designed around strict handling of sensitive mental-health data, including a data-residency approach that keeps personal data in-jurisdiction as the client expands into new markets.
Value Delivered
A single app delivers regulated, certified post-traumatic support across multiple emergency services.
Persona-based assessment and dynamic modules give every user support matched to their profile and service.
Strapi CMS lets the client’s clinical experts manage and update all content directly, keeping material current and certified.
The architecture is built to hold sensitive mental-health data to a strict standard and keep it in jurisdiction as the app moves into new regions.
